Basic Guidelines to find a Comic Strip

The sprites and backgrounds will be edited versions of the original comic strip. For this reason, it would be a good idea to choose a comic that is:

  • Drawn in black and white
  • Contains 3 or 4 frames
  • Is as high of resolution as you can find. Smaller resolution generally means lower pixel density, and won't look as nice.
  • A good opportunity to animate. You want motion to be happening in the comic.
  • Contains very simple backgrounds (If you erase the character, will you have to fill in any holes in the background scenery? If so, you may spend a lot more time editing images than someone with a comic containing a mostly blank background.) 
You may choose any comic strip to begin from, but please note that all sprites, behaviors, words, and animations must be school-appropriate. Here is an example of one I enjoyed as a kid:
